Olive oil should be a staple oil for your heart health

Coconut oil has been a recent “health” craze. It is promoted to have fat content that isn’t as detrimental as other oils, although there is a heavy amount of saturated fat. Surprisingly, coconut oil actually has more saturated fat than butter and beef fat. “Saturated fats can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other blood vessel diseases” (Vasquez-Peddie, 2017). Switching from coconut oil to olive oil can be good for your heart.

Olive Oil has been proven to be healthy time and time again over many years. One reason for its overall goodness is its low saturated fat content, and high unsaturated fat content. Limiting saturated fat in the diet helps to prevent heart and blood vessel diseases.

Eating well for your heart has a lot more to do with the types of fat you are putting into your body rather than how much fat. Olive oil is your go-to oil when it comes to heart health!
